Year-to-date through May, 694,300 tons of beef got shipped from Brazil, up from 590,000 tons a year ago. Revenue was up 8% from USD 2.39 billion in 2018 to USD 2.59 billion.

China was the leading buyer of beef from Brazil, although its imports eased year-on-year. Egypt ranked second at 60,600 tons. Next came Iran; the UAE placed fourth at 40,700 tons. Chile and Russia were fifth and sixth on the list. Abrafrigo said 95 countries stepped up its beef imports from Brazil, and 53 did the opposite.
