I HEART HALAL™ ANNOUNCES HEADLINING PERFORMANCE BY GRAMMY™ AWARD-WINNING RAPPER LUPE FIASCO

(March 20, 2019) CHICAGO, IL -- Following an inaugural festival in 2018 that attracted over 17,000 attendees, I Heart Halal™, the premier halal lifestyle festival in America, has announced headlining Main Stage performances by Grammy Award-winning, Chicago native Lupe Fiasco,Friday, April 12, at 8 p.m. and  a comedy showcase starring America’s top Muslim stand-up comics, Saturday, April 13, at 8 p.m. The showcase, hosted by Chicago native Azhar Usman (Allah Made Me Funny), will feature headlining acts by Chicagoan Ismael Loutfi (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj); Paul Elia (Conan,Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lady Dynamite); Danish Maqbool (featured in Forbes and Wallstreet Journal, former Pro-Gamer (HALO)); Aron Kader (Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, The Bernie Mac Show,Premium Blend); and Zainab Johnson (Seth MeyersLast Comic Standing, East of La Brea).

As previously announced, the 2ndI Heart Halal will increase its footprint at Navy Pier (with the addition of Festival Hall B) and feature an expanded food court showcasing some of the city’s finest cultural cuisines. Plus, three Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises restaurants at Navy Pier, including Frankie’s Pizza by the Slice, Big Bowl and Big City Chicken, will be serving up halal-prepared foods throughout the weekend, starting Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14, 2019. Exclusively at the festival, Lettuce Entertain You Chef’s Tim Hockett and Ozzie Ocegueda will prepare special halal creations including beef bacon cheeseburgers, beef pepperoni pizza, tacos and more.

For the second year, I Heart Halal will serve as a welcoming space for thousands of Chicagoans and visitors who will have the opportunity to eat, shop, and civically engage with halal values. Attendees of all ages can enjoy a robust slate of programming including the only high-end Modest Fashion show in North America, headline celebrity entertainment, a Grand Bazaar of merchants, a Kids Zone, and a myriad of nationally-recognized expert-led cooking, beauty, and health & wellness demonstrations. I Heart Halal will feature three full days of sights, sounds and events appealing to people who want to experience the halal lifestyle, Friday, April 12, 11am - 10pm; Saturday, April 13, 11am-10pm; Sunday, April 14, 11am-6pm. A complete program schedule will be announced shortly.

General Admission tickets ($10 online, $20 at the door) are now on sale and allow entrance to I Heart Halal throughout the weekend, including access to the food hall, Bazaar, fashion shows, cooking demonstrations, Kids Zone and educational and lifestyle sessions in the main hall.  General Admission tickets for children ages 2-13 are $5 online, $10 at the door.  An All Access ticket ($50 online, $75 at the door) includes all above access, plus the evening headline programming.  All Access ticketholders also receive return admission access for all three festival days. VIP ticket ($100 online only) includes access to all of the above, plus exclusive VIP-only offerings including prime seating at headlining performances, special experiences, an exclusive show bag filled with special gifts from vendors and return admission access for all three festival days.
