India’s haj quota returns to pre-2013 level: media

| 12 January, 2017

The Saudi Arabian government has reverted the quota for India's haj pilgrims this year to 170,520 after the quotas for all countries were cut 20 percent since 2013 to accommodate the expansion of facilities at Al Masjid Al Haram in Mecca, Indian media outlets reported today.

According to media reports, India's quota from 2013 to 2016 was 136,020 per year and 135,903 pilgrims from India performed the haj last year.

Haj applications for Indian citizens started January 2 and will remain open through January 24.
