Iran will send a delegation to Saudi Arabia on February 23 for haj discussions with Saudi officials, reported the Islamic Republic News Agency yesterday.

Citing senior Iranian official Ali Qazi-Askar, IRNA said next month's visit will facilitate preparations for this year's haj.

However, Qazi-Askar stressed that nothing about this year's haj is definite for Iran as there are many issues to be settled and that the Islamic Republic is not going to attend the haj before its conditions are met.

Iran boycotted the haj last year over safety concerns after hundreds of Iranian pilgrims were killed in a stampede in Mina in 2015.
