Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has assured depositors that all savings in the organisation are safe and guaranteed by the government.

This, he pointed out, was enshrined in the Tabung Haji Act 1995.

Abdul Azeez said rumours that TH was going bankrupt has resulted in some of its depositors being duped by news spread by irresponsible quarters.

"Do not listen to rumours about TH going bankrupt. There were some who had took out their savings and closed their accounts. Doing this will only jeopardise their opportunity to perform haj (pilgrimage) in Makkah.

"TH was established according to the Tabung Haji Act 1995 and every single sen is 100 per cent guaranteed by the government.

"Some quarters have been going around saying TH is going bankrupt and when it didn't happen, they said it was the country that is going bankrupt," he said in his speech before presenting Tabung Haji Foundation’s Ziarah Ramadan Al-Mubarak programme contributions to 1,500 recipients in the Paya Besar parliamentary constituency today.

Meanwhile, Azeez said 131,000 needy people regardless of which political parties they supported have benefited from the programme which was carried out during Ramadan nationwide.

"We have travelled to 49 parliamentary constituencies nationwide and some 30 of it were won by the opposition. I will be travelling to Sabah to cover several constituencies tomorrow and hope to wrap up the programme by June 24." he said.
