The number of pilgrims from abroad who have arrived in Saudi Arabia for this year’s haj reached 1,604,171 as of August 3, reported state news agency SPA citing data from the General Directorate of Passports.
This was up from 1,249,951 pilgrims who had arrived as at July 30.
More than 2 million pilgrims are expected to perform the haj this year that starts on August 9.
In 2018, 2.37 million pilgrims congregated in Saudi Arabia for the haj, with 75 per cent coming from abroad.
